EngiBiz 2025 Grand Finale: Igniting Innovation at MIST

The Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) had an exceptional day on  March 1st, 2025, as it hosted the Grand Finale of SheSTEM Presents EngiBiz 2025, organized by the MIST Career Club (MCC). Held at MIST’s Multipurpose Hall, this inaugural inter-university engineering business case competition brought together 93 teams from 20 universities nationwide, marking a watershed moment for industry-academia collaboration in Bangladesh.

The competition, designed to fuse engineering prowess with business strategy, kicked off on 14 January 2025 with  340 members, including significant female members. Teams were tasked with conceptualising an AI-driven Personal Concierge Service for Sheba.xyz, a challenge that saw 84 submissions in the Preliminary Round. Judged by 12 industry experts on innovation, feasibility, and presentation, 34 teams advanced to the semifinals. Here, 29 teams crafted Online Video Commercials (OVCs) evaluated for creativity, social media engagement, and technical clarity, narrowing the field to 8 finalists.

Presided over by Col Sarker Md Iqbal Hossain, psc, Director of Student Welfare, and graced by Chief Guest Major General Md Nasim Parvez, BSP, Commandant of MIST, the finale showcased high-stakes pitches from the top 8 teams. Each delivered an 8-minute business pitch followed by a 10-minute Q&A, presenting prototypes focused on scalability, market impact, and AI-driven solutions. Projects ranged from budget-friendly medical apps with AI life assistants to personalized service optimization platforms, all judged by luminaries like:

Adnan Imtiaz Halim, CEO of Sheba.xyz remarked, “STEM students of Bangladesh, irrespective of their genders, should take the lead of unicorn companies to lead Bangladesh 2.0 to a stronger ecosystem”. Among the winning teams, the Champion were the Team Market Blitzers, 1st Runner-up: Team No Surprises and 2nd Runner-up: The Gear Shifters. Two of the winning teams were from the Islamic University of Technology and the other from the Military Institute of Science and Technology.

By bridging engineering innovation with business acumen, EngiBiz 2025 not only highlighted AI’s transformative potential but also set a precedent for future academic-industrial synergy. As awards were bestowed for excellence in innovation, the event closed with a resounding message: Bangladesh’s youth are ready to lead the charge in solving global challenges, one algorithm at a time.
